This Ice Crusher heater kit is built specifically for the Can-Am Defender HD5 / HD7 / HD8 / HD9 / HD10 — not a universal heater adapted to fit. It puts 14,600 BTU of engine-coolant heat through 6 adjustable vents, including dedicated windshield defrost. The heater unit mounts on driver side left of steering column. Because it runs on engine coolant, it makes real heat without draining your battery; the fan draws about what a factory blower does.

Installation

The heater mounts on the driver side, left of the steering column. You tap into the engine coolant and route the hose to the heater; the instructions show every step with pictures. Basic hand tools do the job.

Options

Seat rows: Pick one row for a standard Defender or two rows for a Defender MAX, so we pack the right length of coolant hose. The price doesn’t change.

MaxStat (+$85.99): Adds about 10–15° of cab heat by keeping the engine thermostat from cutting coolant flow to the heater core.

Questions we hear

Does it fit the Defender MAX?

Yes. Pick two rows of seats at checkout so we pack the longer coolant hose.

What does the MaxStat add?

About 10–15° more cab heat. It is an inline bypass thermostat that keeps hot coolant flowing to the heater core when the engine thermostat would otherwise close, so the heat stays steady instead of cycling. Add it at checkout; this machine uses the 1-inch (26 mm) size. It comes with a 180°F thermostat, or 192°F if you ask before it ships.

Will it drain my battery?

No. The heat comes from your engine’s coolant, not the battery. The fan draws about what a factory blower does.

How long does the install take?

Plan on 4–8 hours depending on experience. Experienced do-it-yourselfers land at the low end; first-timers should set aside a full day and follow the picture-rich instructions step by step.

Do I need the hose clamp tools?

You can install without them, but they make the coolant tie-in faster and cleaner. They pinch the hoses shut so coolant doesn’t pour out, and less air gets into the system, which makes bleeding the air out much easier. Sold as a pair; they fit hoses up to 2 inches.

Ice Crusher Heaters warrants your UTV Heater System, including its electrical components (motor, switch, wiring and resistor), to be free from defects in material and craftsmanship under normal use and service by the original consumer purchaser (end user) for a period of Three (3) years from the date of purchase. The warranty is null and void if the system has been damaged by accident, improper installation, unreasonable use, lack of proper maintenance, unauthorized repairs or modifications, or causes not arising from defects in materials and craftsmanship. Ice Crusher Heaters obligations under this warranty are limited to repair of the product at our production facility, or the replacement of the product at Ice Crusher Heaters option and at Ice Crusher Heaters expense. Any expense involved in the removal, re-installation, or transportation of the product is not covered by this warranty. Prior to return of any product to Ice Crusher Heaters, the customer must contact Ice Crusher Heaters customer service, 888-964-0135, email at info@icecrusherheaters.com or fill out the online contact form. The order number must be marked on the exterior of the package for easy identification. Any Warranty product received at Ice Crusher Heaters without an order number may be returned at expense of the sender. Installed 2 of these all ready, going to buy a 3rd for another utv. Running these in a rental fleet no complaints and hold up good. Instructions are clear and easy to follow.
